WHEEL OF FORTUNE
I woke up this morning and did the usual ‘check phone notifications and browse social media’ bit. There was a story making the rounds on Twitter about George Clooney’s Nespresso ads and how he did them to fund his access to a satellite that provided him with data on Sudanese war crimes. He could use this data to warn innocent civilians about encroaching danger. Naturally, the general public consensus was, "He's Batman", and “What a great way to make use of your money and power and access to resources!”
My mind wandered to all the different choices he'd made in life and the opportunities he’d stumbled upon to end up in a position where he, as just one person, could have such an impact. That led to a curiosity for Amal; what was her upbringing like? What led her to become one of the world's most influential human rights attorneys who, in her spare time, attends royal weddings and royal baby showers?
The Wheel of Fortune speaks of chance, destiny, and karma. It’s associated with Jupiter (more Sagittarius themes jumping out during this new moon), a planet that signifies expansion through knowledge, philosophical pursuits, and luck.
From the perspective of the Wheel of Fortune, George and Amal’s lives tell a story of an exceptionally exciting chronological take on where each spin of the wheel took them. How they made use of where it landed each time speaks to the extent to which they have been able to accumulate abundance in their lives.
Although there is absolutely a chaotic and contradictory essence to this card that speaks to both cosmic order and the uncertainty of chance, it also offers reassurance in the treasures of knowledge gained from the lessons each spin has in store for you. Willingly or unwillingly, we are all students of Jupiter and, if we play our cards right, Jupiter can be very generous in the luck she dishes out.
I gravitate intensely toward the significance of this card’s appearance every time I draw it because according to my tarot constellation, the Wheel of Fortune is my personality card. Today, I’m being asked to surrender to the spin of the wheel.
